Monatree has been a long time in the making, in response to our own money worries and frustrations at unexpected bills. Then, we had an idea. Maybe the tools we developed for us could help other people too. 

Now you might say, why make a system that helps people manage their money, aren't there systems that can already do this? The answer is a small yes and a big no; yes there are other systems out there, but no - none of them work like Monatree for many reasons. Some of the reasons are commercial, after all, it takes a lot of time and money to make systems and most businesses that do such things usually target other business - because they have more money and by law are required to keep their finances in check, so it's easier to sell to business. But this doesn't help the ordinary person who needs to manage their own money.

So what is the ordinary person suppose to do? This question is what gave birth to Monatree. So we started from there and came up with a purpose-designed system that would require minimal effort but would give back maximum understanding. We designed Monatree around cash-flow because this is what determines if you run out of money. Surprisingly, even when you are not earning a lot of money, Monatree can maximise the value of that money by showing you the effect of future payments BEFORE they happen. This means you have time to make changes before that effect becomes real. Or to put it simply; prevention is better than cure.

So we started development. As we needed money management ourselves, we started using and testing the system with our own numbers. After years of real-life testing we had a complete and refined system that not only helped us manage our money and cash flow, but it did something quite unexpected; it started to highlight the future "crunch" points where money got low, but instead of seeing the crunch after it had happened, Monatree showed us it would happen in 3 months time! Because we could see this ahead of time, we could do something about it now and avoid the stress and worry of running out of money and not being able to pay our bills.

Knowing we had this level of control over our finances is an amazing feeling. It really is like stumbling around in the dark bumping into things, then all of a sudden the lights go on and you can see as clear as day. Monatree gave us the numbers that were easy to understand and required very little effort to keep updated. As an added bonus, any changes made to payments showed an immediate impact on the bank balance.

Roll forward to 2019 and we finally had the opportunity to redevelop this system for use over the web. This really opened up Monatree to it's full potential. Now anyone who wants to take control of their money - and doesn't want to stress or worry about money - finally had a system that could really help.

So here we are. Monatree is available to all. It didn't arise out of a thought to make money, although we do have costs that we have to cover, but this was not the purpose. The system arose out of a need to be able to manage money responsibly - a need that almost all of us have - and it was developed by people like you and I who do not want complicated answers to problems, instead, give us the simple facts and we can make our own decisions based on this. That said, it does take time and money to look after and enhance Monatree but rather than demand higher fees for the service or to bombard you with adverts, we have faith that most people are fundamentally good and appreciate good help and advice.
